Terling Junior Cricket Club is all about fun and learning the basics of teamwork.

We run All Stars cricket for ages 4-8. This is a great introduction to cricket and allows your child a taster in a friendly and safe environment. These sessions are held on a Saturday morning.

For older children (9 upwards) we hold sessions at The Dismals on Friday evening from 7pm. We have some matches midweek and also, the majority, are on Sunday. We are fortunate to have a professional, fully qualified coach in Liam Humphries, assisted by fully ECB Qualified coaches in Mark Ovenden, Honey Garg, Alex Taylor, Lauren Long and Tim Harrison, along with some players and parents whom offer help and support.

Our Juniors play hardball cricket as well as using incrediballs. They require an abdo protector as a minimum, but will be wearing pads/ gloves etc when batting, so will, over time, require their own kit for their own hygiene and comfort.

Please be confident, all regular helpers have a current DBS check in line with the ECB Safeguarding policies. Child welfare and safety is of utmost importance.

liam humphries

JUNIOR HEAD COACH

Liam has been part of Terling Cricket Club since his early teens – as a Sunday player, then 2nd XI and now 1st Team regular. Liam joined in with the Junior coaching as his nephew wanted to start playing. Liam is now focused on the development of the Junior section and finding youngsters to take over from him in the First XI! Liam has an excellent manner with the youngsters and is a role model for his nephew – and we hope, for our future Terling stars. Liam was on the radar of the County setup when he was younger and still plays a very competitive game to this day.

ALEX TAYLOR

Alex is a stalwart of the Terling Cricket Club, having played for well over a decade. Alex is the First XI Vice Captain and Wicketkeeper.

Alex is working directly with the Colts wicketkeepers (and aspiring wicketkeepers!)

Outside of cricket, Alex is married to Katherine, with several rabbits and a spaniel, Leo.

It was really, really, really exciting at the Essex County Ground. The thought of playing where professionals play got me nervous but it turned out to be amazing. We played Brentwood Bucaneers and a red team. They both got me out but what mattered was that I had fun which I did. Everyone got a medal and had dinner while other teams played against each other.
