Woodham Mortimer won by 93 runs

Terling travelled the short distance to face Woodham Mortimer. In a return to his old stomping ground, John Marshall met up with old friends, with his new, old friends and seemed ready for the match. Terling lost the toss and surprisingly, were asked to field. (the reasoning became apparent later - the wicket turned in to a box of frogs!) So, out strode the WMCC openers - Smith and Browne (how very English) and they (well, Smith) promptly despatched Big Time Barry and John Boy all over Pheasant Park. With Smith racing in to the 20's he hit the ball, in the air, to Harrison - who promptly dropped it. Some say it was a difficult chance, they are just being kind - Harrison just cant catch! Smith went on to score 86. Browne and Abeyfatna the others to damage the Terling bowling figures - with the latter knocking a quickfire 37. In terms of bowling display, James Atkinson bowled with aplomb taking 3-34 - Wilding took 2 catches - and tea was served. Terling had a mountain to climb, requiring 251 for victory. Disaster in over 1 - as Craigoooo was judged LBW in the in the first over - rumour has it, he has taken the umpire off his friends list on facebook! In strode AT, and boy - there's a reason they call him the milkman - boom, boom - shots flying all over the place and when Wilding fell to an absolute snorter (off a standard length bouncing and almost taking his eyebrows) he was caught behind. A shame really, as he had hit a masterful 6 the prior ball and was looking destructive! In came OD - again, playing like the man the Chairman had wanted to sign - and then boom, a ball which didn't bounce - and bang go the stumps. Devastating really, when you cant trust the pitch and play your natural game. Reminds us of Terling a few years ago! Hey ho - in pops Cullum - and he rapidly amasses runs all over the ground like the true legend he is!. With OD falling, Big Time Bazza stepped in and out... a duck - one wonders why he bothered turning up (he also dropped 3 catches and went for nearly 5 an over) Next to the wicket was Chief, who started to build a nice partnership - before being bowled by Roger Marshall for 18. Striding in at number 8 was Class Clown Harrison - who was only playing cos Rahul had an ouchy ankle and pulled out - Harrison batted incredibly well, and at one point, along with Cullum looked as though they were capable of bringing home the bacon - not to be, Cullum then Harrison, then Marshall and Atkinson fell - for 9 runs in total and it was game over! A very disappointing day - but one we can learn from (don't let Harrison play in the first team - especially fielding him where catches may come!) On to next week where we welcome Basildon & Pitsea to The Dismals
